Moore Ireland CSR - Belize

In May 2016, the Irish League of Credit Unions Foundation was asked (through IFAD and the government of Belize) to provide consultants’ services to support the Belize Credit Union movement and the associated Belize Rural Finance Project. The consultancy was aimed at growing the institutional capacity of the Belize Credit Union League by sharing the experience and best practices of the Irish credit union movement with BCUL, so that BCUL and its associated credit unions can implement best practices, to the benefit of the Belizean movement.

As part of this partnership, the Irish League of Credit Unions Foundation invited Moore Ireland to participate in the BRFP. The main purpose of the participation was to provide technical support and assistance in order to improve internal capacity of the BCUL with regard to its internal audit function.

In August 2016, a lead consultant in the Moore Ireland's internal audit division, travelled to Belize for a two week site visit. Ciara spent a significant level of time with the BCUL staff in a coaching capacity, to aid in the delivery of internal audit services by BCUL to credit unions in Belize.
