Summary of Budget 2019

Minister for Finance, Paschal Donohoe, today announced his Budget for 2019. Before the Budget, Mr Donohoe was at pains to stress that the Government are being prudent with the country's finances in order to produce a "balanced" budget whilst being focused on the challenges the country would face if there is no deal in relation to Brexit. Whilst it was widely leaked that this Budget would be more focused on spending increases to invest in health, housing and childcare, Taoiseach Leo Varadkar publicly stated that “this is not an election budget”.
